The Seattle Mariners sign Jhonny Nunez
The Mariners have signed 27-year old righty reliever/starter Jhonny Nunez to a minor league deal. Nunez pitched in 22 games (3 starts) in AAA-ball for the Rays last year and he was 2-2 with a 6.57 ERA and a 1.92 WHIP. His only major league experience came back in 2009 with the White Sox. Nunez pitched in 7 games (0 starts) for the White Sox in 2009 and he was 0-0 with a 9.53 ERA and a 2.12 WHIP. Nunez will be a longshot to win a spot on the Mariners’ pitching staff this spring.
