The Seattle Mariners sign Mike Jacobs

The Mariners have signed 32-year old lefty swinging 1B/DH Mike Jacobs to a minor league deal. He played in 13 games for the Diamondbacks last year and he was 4 for 19 (.211 avg, .611 OPS) with 4 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Jacobs also played in 101 games in AAA-ball for the D-Backs last year and he was 93 of 333 (.279 avg, .849 OPS) with 59 runs scored, 18 homers, 60 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Jacobs has now played in 569 games in his first seven years in the majors and he is 493 of 1,949 (.253 avg, .786 OPS) with 248 runs scored, 100 homers, 312 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Jacobs has power and he will get a shot to make the Mariners’ roster next spring.
